Orphan’s Song by Gillian Bronte Adam’s

I learned of this book a short time ago, and was instantly intrigued. Although I do not often read fantasy books, there are few that I have read and not liked. I love the way these authors talk and word things in their books. I have been waiting for Orphan’s Song to be published and am so happy that its finally here. Though I must admit, I haven’t read it yet…….. but i do plan to!

Here’s a little about the book and author;

Orphan's Song--Front Cover 02

In a world woven by melody and shattered by discord, a girl discovers that her song contains far greater power than she ever could have imagined. A power that a ruthless soldier and his evil master seek to posses … and her guardian wants silenced.

When Birdie’s song draws the attention of a notorious Khelari soldier, she is captured and thrust into the midst of ancient secrets and betrayals. Rescued by her old friend, traveling peddler Amos McElhenny, Birdie flees the clutches of her enemies in pursuit of the truth behind the Song’s power.

Ky is a street-wise thief and a member of the Underground –  a group of orphans banded together to survive and fight the Khelari. Haunted by a tragic raid, Ky joins Birdie and Amos in hopes of a new life beyond the reach of the soldiers.

But the enemy is closing in, and when Amos’ shadowed past threatens to undo them all, Birdie is forced to face the destiny that awaits her as the Songkeeper of Leira.

Information about the author was taken from her blog profile at Of Battles Dragon’s and Swords of Adamant.

Gillian Bronte Adams

My name is Gillian Bronte Adams, and I’m a sword-wielding, horse-riding, coffee-loving speculative fiction writer from the great state of Texas. When I wasn’t devouring books, my childhood consisted of roaming the countryside slaying orcs, captaining pirate ships, and dreaming of medieval kingdoms.

Now as an author, I enjoy combining epic adventure and fantasy with themes that point to the greatest story of all – or as I like to refer to it, writing to the echoes of eternity.

During the day, I manage the equine program at a Christian youth camp and enjoy pursuing random hobbies such as stunt riding, acting, script writing, and cat wrangling. But at night, I kick off my boots and spurs, pull out my trusty laptop, and transform into a novelist.

My soon to be published books include Orphan’s Song, book one of the Songkeeper Chronicles (coming Fall 2014), and Out of Darkness Rising, a novella (coming Spring 2015)! I also have several short stories available for reading online: Shattered Ice and The Fiddler’s Tune.

But most importantly, I am a sinner saved by the grace of God and washed in the blood of Jesus Christ. My life belongs to Him, and I desire to glorify Him with the writing abilities He has given me.

I John 5:10-11 “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

My Newest Art Venture

If you don’t know me, I am the kind of person that loves to try new things. I am always trying my hand at something I’ve never done before.Recently I have gotten into photography (not professionally, but with my Ipod). Well eventually I needed something new to do with those pictures, so using a pic collage app called PicsArt I started playing around with different things,

photo 5(8)

It started with this, and then Rayleigh (my older sister) asked if I could to something like that for her blog. Sooooooo, I made these. The flower pictures were taken by me but the violin came from Google.

So, here are my newest gallery additions……

This one was actually a screen shot of the Bible app on my iPod.

The boat picture was from a wallpaper app. The boy in the sky is my brother Gavin.

Good example of a Brain Study: If you can read this OUT LOUD you have a strong mind. And better than that: Alzheimer’s is a long long, way down the road before it ever gets anywhere near you.

Sooooooo, could you read it? When I received this email I read it on my sister’s Ipod in the back of a rather bumpy truck. Needless to say at first I had a hard time picking out the words in the first paragraph but it soon became automatic to my brain. I don’t know about you but I think the human brain is completely amazing! Let my know if you liked this!

Hebrews 1:3

creation 2

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on High, having become much superior to angels as the name He has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”

When I think of radiance,

  creation 1

I see the most glorious sunrise imaginable, wrapped up in power that is unknown to mankind.

I think glory

creation 5

And I see the sun and a thousand stars whose only explanation of existing is through the word of God.

Universe

creation 7

An unending display of God’s beautiful creation.

As for power

creation 8

I see and indescribable force strong enough to shake the very foundations of the world.

Combine them all, and you get God; Creator of the most glorious sunrises, Author of the universe and Giver of life. He is indescribable power strong enough to shake the world He created at a word from His mouth, yet gracious enough to allow us to live…

life 1

life 2

creation 6

And live abundantly.

“For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

“Thief comes only to steal kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  – John 10:10
